Preventing Cruel Breeders

Pet Insurance Australia is commending the new RSPCA’s tipping service designed to catch cruel animal breeders in Victoria.
Currently this project is hoping to completely eradicate kitten and puppy farms in Victoria, where last year the RSPCA and Council were able to successfully shut down a puppy farm in Narre Warren North.

“Because of wonderful initiatives, such as these, the local community can really help prevent animal abuse right from its core,” Nadia Crighton spokesperson from Pet Insurance Australia says.
The general public in Victoria can now make complaints through the RSPCA’s website at http://rspcavic.org/services/tip-off.
“It would be great to see the whole of Australia adopt this kind of principle to prevent the cruel breeding of animals,” Crighton says.
PIA also reminds the Australian public the effect cruel breeding has on society as a whole.
“This abuse, purely for profit, is horrific in every sense and needs to be stopped.” Crighton says. “The only way to prevent the factory farming of companion animals is for the general community to use their eyes and ears to help authorities shut down these kitten and puppy mills.”
PIA asks all Australians to ensure their new family addition is not the product of a puppy or kitten farm.
“Asking simple questions, finding out where the pups/kittens have come from, and doing your homework can help stop the supply and demand that these farms depend on.”
PIA is urging all Australians to act if they suspect something is going on in their local areas.
“If you see something, or suspect something, or hear something, in your local area, report it to the RSPCA immediately,” Crighton says. “You could be the one set of eyes that prevents millions of puppies and kittens suffering abuse.”
“These farms are not easily located, they move often and are an illegal operation done in the shadows. The only defense these animals have is the input from the public.”
