Pet Insurance Australia (PIA) has investigated the top 10 pet applications from smart tags to keeping track of your companion animal’s health and fitness.
1. GPS Pet Trackers – Tagg
These are great devices that attach to your dog collar allowing you to track your pet from your smart phone. “These type of devices allow pets to be quickly reunited with family,” Nadia Crighton spokesperson for PIA says. “There are some really impressive pet tracking collars on the market that are not only reliable, but offer real-time information. This includes noting if your animal is too hot, or too cold and how much movement they are doing throughout the day. The device can also alert you if your pet wanders from home.”
2. First Aid for Pets Australia
This fantastic educational app allows pet owners to quickly administer first aid while seeking further assistance. “First Aid for Pets Australia has easy to follow instructions on how to deal with an emergency situation,” Pet Insurance Australia spokesperson says. “From suspected poisoning to stopping bleeding, help can be at your finger-tips while you seek professional veterinary help.”
3. Live Video Apps – iCam
This is great for the busy person who wants to check in with their pet during the day. “These apps allow real-time streaming video and audio from a webcam feed,” Crighton says. “This is also a great tool for people whose animals suffer from anxiety as it allows them to monitor their pet during stressful times, such as a thunderstorm. It can also help people monitor their pets behavior when they are not around and enlighten them to issues such as problem barking etc.”
4. Pet Phone
This application allows you to easily track your pet’s health. “You can enter all of your pets details including medical history in one easy application,” Crighton says. “This is a great way to keep organised, plus you can enter more than one pet.” The application also helps you keep track of appointments and medication plus it can be synced with your calendar. “Meaning you will never forget an important pet appointment or medical treatment.”
5. ikibble
“This application answers the one question many dog owners want to know…can my dog eat this?” Crighton from Pet Insurance Australia says. “This application allows people to quickly decide if the food is appropriate for their dog.”

Well wonder no more. “This great app gives you access to literally hundreds of high quality images of dog breeds and mixed breeds.” Full of great information based from the social media site that has seen enthusiastic pet owners create over 110,000 pet profiles and uploaded over 1,500,000 pet images.

<h2>8. Sound-Proof Puppy Training
