Pet Insurance Australia wants to acknowledge all the pet parents this Mother’s Day, regardless if they have children or not.
“There will be many mums receiving flowers and cuddles from their children this Mother’s Day,” Nadia Crighton from Pet Insurance Australia says. “However, some of these mothers may not necessarily have human children.”
The rise in the number of fur-babies will see many Australian homes celebrating Mother’s Day in a different way. “Many pet owners consider their pets to be just like children, so there is no doubt many of our pet parents will be experiencing a slobbery and snuggly type of Mother’s Day,” she smiles.

“This is a wonderful day to celebrate mum’s hard work and dedication to the family, including the furry family member,” Crighton says. “As our pets are an integral part of the family, it’s no surprise that they will want to get in on all of the fun and celebration of the day.”
If you have children, encouraging them to make a card from the household pet is a great idea to let her know she is loved and appreciated by all family members; furry, feathered or scaled.
“Mums play such a big role in the lives of their children and pets,” Crighton says. “From walking, washing, playing, vet visits, and waste removal; mums do it all!”
For most mums, the basics of; a nice sleep in, a clean house (including poo patrol and litter boxes), hot cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast are all that is needed to make her feel loved. Consider planning a nice walk on the beach with the family dog or breakfast in the garden with your beloved cat.
“Mother’s Day doesn’t need to be an expensive trip to the shops for the current leading perfume or diamond encrusted jewelry, although this is also very nice” Crighton smiles. “Just making mum feel loved and appreciated is all that’s important, and all members of the family can do this with a little creativity and planning.”
